The Importance of Wearing Sunblock

Most people only apply sunblock when they go to the beach, maybe to a park; sometimes not even then. However, sunblock should be applied daily, regardless of where you’re headed. Many might find this tedious, but it’s necessary. Here’s why:

Sunblock protects you from harmful ultraviolet rays.

There are two kinds of ultraviolet rays: UVA and UVB. UVA rays are also known as aging rays. Overexposure to these rays cause the skin to age prematurely, developing wrinkles and age spots. UVB rays are also known as burning rays. These are the ones that cause sunburns. UVB rays do more than redden your skin, however. Too much exposure to UVB rays can eventually cause skin cancer. This can happen to anyone, regardless of race, gender, age, etc.

Because of this, dermatologists recommend using SPF 30+ daily. SPF 30+ blocks more than 90% of UVB rays, thus greatly reducing the risk of burning and, more importantly, of developing skin cancer.

Take care of your skin; go put on some sunblock!
