Botox. In this day and age, this treatment is a household name. What most people aren’t aware of, however, is that there’s a very similar treatment that might actually be more beneficial: Dysport.
What are Botox and Dysport?
Botox and Dysport are both types of botulinum toxin injections. They are used to treat crow’s feet, wrinkles, and some muscle spasms.
What’s the main difference between them?
The results. Both treatments have been studied and concluded to be equally effective. The difference is how long results take to appear, as well as how long those results last.
For instance, the results of Botox usually take about 3-5 days to become noticeable. In contrast, the results of Dysport take approximately 1-2 days. Likewise, Botox lasts about 3 months while Dysport lasts about 4 months.
In summary, Dysport seems to kick in faster and lasts a little longer than Botox. Even so, both treatments are effective and follow the same process, so it all comes down to personal preference. Be advised, however, that 1 unit of Dysport isn’t equal to 1 unit of Botox. So, if you’re making a switch in either direction be prepared for an increase or decrease in the amount of injections.
